Nursing homes provide essential services that must be protected at all times, including those extraordinary occasions we call emergencies or disasters. Yet it is difficult to predict when an incident may occur that threatens the ability of a nursing home to safely care for its residents, staff, and visitors; or conduct normal operations that maintain the facility’s business continuity.
All nursing homes should be prepared for and exhibit resiliency when faced with any type of incident, ranging from an internal emergency that affects only one facility to a large, regional disaster that simultaneously affects many healthcare facilities and the community. The Incident Command System (ICS) provides a practical, proven approach to disaster management that is an integral part of the National Incident Management System (NIMS). ICS is utilized for incident management throughout the public and private sectors.
This class will be one of four sessions offered to participants. After every session the participant will receive a Certificate of Completion.
